One Stop Guide for Making A Full-Time Income Blogging.

3 Tools to Use to Kill Your Online Distractions

I swear..

I know how much working online can distract us.

I’ve been blogging full time for 3 months now, still I’m not able to utilize my time productively.

I blame myself for this and I think anyone who works online (especially bloggers) face the same situation, don’t you?

Successful blogging needs

  • Proper research (reading others content, watching videos or listening podcasts etc)
  • Writing (creating content, guest posts, blog comments etc)
  • Promoting (email marketing, social media etc)
  • Building relationships with others

The problem with online distractions is this: we work online.

We have to come across so many hurdles like

  • creating content without any distractions
  • using social media only to network with others
  • being everywhere
  • and the list goes on..

But, it’s almost impossible for those who can easily get distracted like me.

Then I found 3 productivity tools which are very helpful while working online.

These are the 3 tools which makes you more productive and efficient while building your own business.

The main reason for online distractions is: social media

Once if you get rid of it, you can find it really productive and you can do more in less time.

How can you kill online distractions to make your time more productive? 3 Tools you can use

1. TimeTracker

Don’t know where do you spend most of your time online?

Or do you want to know what’s killing your productive time?

Here’s a tool called TimeTracker to know your online time wasters.

It keeps track of how much time you spend on various web sites.

It helps you to track how much time they spend on various sites.

This attempts to detect your online activity (by mouse movements) and will pause the timer if the user is not at the keyboard.

Isn’t it sexy??

2. StayFocusd

Tell me what’s your biggest distracting site online?

If you find there’s no way for you to get rid of the site’s addiction, don’t worry!

Use StayFocusd to block the sites which are distracting you every time.

What StayFocusd can do?

StayFocusd increases your productivity by limiting the amount of time that you can spend on time-wasting websites.

StayFocusd is a productivity extension for Google Chrome that helps you stay focused on work by restricting the amount of time you can spend on time-wasting websites.

Once your allotted time has been used up, the sites you have blocked will be inaccessible for the rest of the day.

StayFocusd is highly configurable. You can block or allow entire sites, specific subdomains, specific paths, specific pages, even specific in-page content like videos, games, images etc

3. Instachrome

This is extremely useful especially for the bloggers.

As a blogger what we need to create content?

Definitely reading and researching

Without reading, can anyone write? can anyone create content?

So, it’s really essential for us to read a lot to create great content.

Here comes a handy tool called “InstaChrome” (for chrome users)

If you’re using Firefox – use “InstantFox”

It collects articles on the web to read them later. If you found any article helpful while reading or researching, just click on the Instachrome icon to read it later, so that you’ll find anything which is useful at one place.

Later you can back to the Instachrome archive for the future reference.

First of all, you need to sign up for the InstaPaper and then install the above extension. You’re done!

Tell me how do you spend time while working online? Do you have any more tips to work productively?

  16. Thanks for sharing the tools Rahul! Just joined a startup team about 2.5 months ago, and getting used to reminding myself to stay focused on one task at a time- over and over again, and to avoid drowning on sites that kill my productivity. It’s almost like I develop ADD when I am online, one click constantly leading to another, then before you know it half the day has gone by. Our startup is called Mailbird, a desktop email application for Windows- so would love to hear what people think about email distraction! We use email communication SO much on a daily basis, so how do you guys eliminate email distraction?
