18 Flares 18 Flares ×

I know how discouraging it would be if your blog getting no comments or less comments. How to get them as quick as possible then?

How to get more comments

Reasons for not getting comments in your blog is -

1. You don’t have compelling content:

Be it a newbie blog or which is started few months ago the main reason you don’t get much comments (or the reason for getting 0 comments in most of your blog posts) is you don’t have  the content with the following features:

  • It’s not interesting – if your content is not interesting then there is no reason your readers to comment on it. So try to create READABLE content in your blog.
  • It’s not useful – why should your readers comment if your post is not worthy? Try to add value to post and try to know who is your readers & their problems. Solve their problems in your posts.

It’s not grabbing your readers attention: You are not making your readers Your content should be appealing. The best tip to make it appealing is – write catchy headlines to your blog posts, and better format your posts.

2. You are not commenting on other blogs:

How  do you expect comments from others if you are not commenting on theirs. You are not a problogger yet to publish a post and leave that alone. Even the probloggers worked hard in the beginning to get comments on their blog(s) by commenting on other blogs.

Try to leave at least 10 comments a day. Make your comments worthy don’t use one liners in your comments. Suggest them, question them or be controversial!

And expand your comments to get noticed by asking question at the end of your comment – this is the best tip to expand your conversation.

3 a. You don’t have a call to action at the end of your posts to get more comments:

This is the most essential thing and most common mistake that many bloggers are doing in their posts by not having a call to action.

Call to action simply means – ask your readers to comment them or ask them how this post helped you.

Ex: I will make a call to action at the end of this post  ;)

3 b. Publish less content:

It may look strange but its the best way to go  if you want more comments in your blog posts – publish less. If you update more often then the chances of getting comments will be less, don’t you agree?

Make a blog schedule post twice/thrice a week. Post quality content. If you  still got time then start guest posting on other blogs and grow your network, traffic and backlinks in the remaining days.

Note: This point may seems to be foolish but know what you want to get in your blog. Is it updating daily or getting more comments?

Simple… If you want more comments then you need to focus on more quality content creation with call to action at the end and publish less.

Over to you:

Do you believe that getting less or zero comments in a blog is just because they are updating so often? Or with lack of quality content or call to action?

Do share them in the comments section below. I would love to hear your comments  :)

  7. yes, it is really so upset sometime getting no comments besides putting enough effort in the blog, and these are some reasons might not be considering while doing blogging. If i would suggest you, my experience one must be applied is to update your blog post frequently manner with really exciting and compelling contents with videos or images to get all those comments and users even like to get in touch with your social!

    • No. I won’t agree with your point – publish more to get more comments. It’s impossible unless you have authority blog. Try to publish less(publish only the better content) than publishing the ordinary or just another stuff daily.
It surely works. Thanks for commenting BTW welcome to my blog :)

      • yes kuntala you are right, until the blog has earned sufficient authority, trust and reputation in relevant market ! what means to be the ordinary post . .if blogger is quite good in a field and offering such awesome content stuff for users. .what kind of ordinary post would be look like and its taste for users getting engage there!

  8. You know, I never thought it like this. I never realised that less content could be better. Also letting your friends and family know about your blog is a good idea. At least they can get to your blog and leave some comments. Other than this is that, people begin to trust you over time and will become your virtual friend and then comment back. Thanks for these awesome tips.

    • It works. This blog is the live proof :) Only 4 articles in April (got over 180+ comments, not so bad right..)
And your next point – Haha, you know what I never got a single comment from my own friends(they don’t know much about blogging – I too never asked to visit my blog) and coming to my family, they never disturb me and they don’t know blogging. So, how can I ask them to comment on my blog :P
But, it’s a powerful tool to get first few comments. Thanks for sharing it.

  9. Initially i was not commenting on other blogs that’s why my blog has very low comments. Also will try to post some questions in my posts.

    • Actually its not about commenting much on other blogs. Consider my example, I’m not an active commentator on other blogs, yet my blog receives adequate no. of comments.
It totally depends on YOU Zeeshan. Follow few tricks, you will also get huge comments then. All the best. BTW I like you blog design :)

  10. Nice to read your post bro, really helpful to me and other blogger just like me.
I know that every person reads a blog post like this one but many do not follow the post. Even I was one of them. But not now. I will try my best to get most out of my blog.

    My new blog: TechyonicGeek.com

  11. I accept all the things you say, But I think the major reason why many blogs are getting comment is the Comment Box, mainly for blogger blogs. SO I suggest Bloggers who use Blogger as their blogging platform should use intensedebate or disquis comment box. Those will help bloggers to get more comments as it has comment Luv , [ Including your blog Rahul :D ]
    Thanks,
    Hari Narayan

  12. thanx for sharing this post… it was fantastic..

  13. Its a really good question and off-course why not, comment section is that place where true conversation starts and this is the reason why I can’t ignore it even a single word.
    Thanks for sharing!!

  14. I haven’t yet tried to do this. But i have been receiving so much comments on my older blog , most of them were spammers. But only few have written worthy comments. I haven’t yet commented on any blog. This is my first time. Thanks for helping. Let me try this!

  15. Some people dont just understand the importance of commenting on ones site. What you said above there is true but not final really. There are people who go online curious about finding what they need, and as soon as they lay hands on, they are gone in no time. Even with a plead of a comment at bottom of page, no one cares to read up to that level. The only truth is that most of those who do not comment are not bloggers neither designers, so i just think they do not know the importance of it. Just a comment is so difficult to offer, wht more of the owner of the site, how long did he take to come up with something like that no matter how?

  16. Thank you for your post.

I’ve got a question which I’d like to ask. In my niche (dating) people don’t comment often because it sends a signal saying I’m alone. How can niche sites encourage people past this?

    I’d appreciate your thoughts?

    • Hi Jonathan,

Please give me the link to one of your posts. I couldn’t find your blog posts using your URL. Once I read your stuff, I can help you get more comments.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  17. Thank you, Rahul. Working on adjusting my formatting and making things look nice on my site.

I do have an issue which brought me to your site however..

I was trying to learn how to make a list of my past blog posts come up in my sidebar for easy reference and discovery . An Index of Sorts..lol..apparently there are many kinds of indexes.

I’ll continue my search! But want you to know I found your post helpful!

    Thanks again.

    David
